Creating Diagrams

You can create diagrams in the Model Structure tool window using commands in the ribbon or context menu.

Context

New elements generally need to be assigned to an owner. These are packages in the simplest case.

The configuration sets whether a model element can be an owner of a diagram.

If you do not select a model element, a dialog appears which contains a list of possible owners.

A message appears if a model element cannot be an owner.

How to proceed
  1. Select the model element in the model structure which you want to assign the new diagram to.
  2. Select Start>New>New Diagram.

The submenu which contains the configured diagram types appears.

  3. Select a diagram type by clicking on it or selecting it with the arrow keys and then the [Enter] key or the [space bar].

The Select Owner for {0} dialog box appears but {0} is replaced by the diagram type.

New diagrams are opened in the document area and reserved for editing.

  4. You can select an owner if one is possible for the diagram. If not, create an owner.
